Back In Stock is a Shopify app built to help merchants collect restock waitlists, send back-in-stock notifications, and track recovered sales from sold-out products. This policy explains what data the app may access, how that data is used, and how merchant and customer privacy is protected.
1. Who We Are
Back In Stock is operated by Webozza. The app provides waitlist, restock alert, email notification, reporting, and automation features for Shopify merchants.
2. Information We Collect
When a merchant installs or uses Back In Stock, we may collect information needed to operate the app and provide its features. This may include:
- Store information, including shop name, domain, and Shopify store identifier.
- Product listing, product, variant, inventory, and availability information.
- Theme and app embed status information for setup verification.
- Customer information, such as email address and name, when needed for waitlist requests.
- Waitlist details, including email, product, variant, country or market, signup time, and notification status.
- Notification logs, including email and automation delivery status.
- Order information used to attribute recovered sales and revenue.
- Storefront activity events, such as popup opens, notify button clicks, signup submissions, and email link clicks.
3. How We Use Data
We use collected information only to provide and improve the app’s core functionality. This includes:
- Displaying notify buttons or popups for sold-out products and variants.
- Saving customer waitlist requests.
- Sending back-in-stock notifications when requested items return.
- Helping merchants customize notify buttons, signup forms, and email templates.
- Providing waitlist, delivery log, and reporting features.
- Tracking recovered sales, recovered revenue, and restock alert performance.
- Supporting app automations, customer event tracking, and analytics features.
4. Customer Data
Customers may submit their email address through a merchant’s storefront to receive a back-in-stock notification. We use this information only to manage the waitlist request, send the requested notification, support related automations, and provide reporting to the merchant.
We do not sell customer personal information.
5. Shopify Data Access and App Permissions
Back In Stock accesses Shopify data only as needed to provide its features. Depending on the permissions approved by the merchant, the app may request the following access scopes:

6. Shopify Compliance Webhooks
Back In Stock supports Shopify privacy compliance webhooks for customer and shop data requests. These webhooks help process data access and deletion requests required by Shopify.

7. Email Sending
Merchants may connect Gmail OAuth or manual SMTP to send back-in-stock notification emails from their chosen sender. Email credentials or tokens are used only to send app-related notification emails for that merchant.
8. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade merchant or customer data. We may share or process data only with service providers required to operate the app, such as hosting, database, email delivery, analytics, or support tools.
We may also disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users, merchants, customers, or services.
9. Data Storage and Retention
We retain information only for as long as needed to provide the app, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and maintain business records.
Merchants may request deletion of their store data by contacting us at the email address listed below. Customer and shop redaction requests may also be processed through Shopify’s compliance webhook system.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Merchant Responsibilities
Merchants are responsible for ensuring that their own store privacy policy explains how customer information is collected and used, including when customers sign up for back-in-stock notifications.
12. App Uninstall
When a merchant uninstalls Back In Stock, we stop processing new store data through the app. Some records may be retained for a limited period where required for legal, security, support, or business record purposes. Shopify shop redaction requests are handled through the app’s compliance webhook process.
13. Children’s Privacy
Back In Stock is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect product improvements, legal requirements, or policy updates. Any revised version will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
